Sir,
Medical science and research are flourishing. With a constant weekly stream of thousands of publications, it has become virtually impossible to remain up-to-date and to keep track of all new findings, especially when working in a busy practice. On the other hand, it is nowadays expected to conduct our practice according to the principles of evidence-based medicine. Therefore, all our protocols and clinical decisions should be based on the best available evidence.
This is where meta-analyses and systematic review articles become very useful, by providing an overview and a summation of the results of all studies on a certain topic.
